Be one of the first to test the Application Composer on a trade show exhibit
With the mechatronic mini controller CECC from Festo with CoDeSys V3 and the Application Composer from 3S, complicated and time-consuming programming of machine functions will soon be a thing of the past for machine and plant manufacturers.
The Application Composer is designed to enable machines to be automated and commissioned without any in-depth programming knowledge.
This is made possible by module libraries containing all the necessary programming These intelligent technology modules are an easy way of creating projects consisting of an operating cycle and visualisation.
Using the modules, the software can model typical machine functions or system components such as pneumatic cylinders, tool changers or temperature controllers as well as typical software functions such as parts management, user management, sequence control or network management. The end result is a library from which the user can select individual functions.
Faster engineering
The Application Composer separates the programming function for the software specialists from the user function. This means that engineers can concentrate fully on their specific machine development instead of having to grapple with complex program structures.
This produces a user-friendly application platform that conforms to IEC 61131-3, made possible by the linking and parameterisation of the modules using special editors. This speeds up engineering of standard machines for customer-specific configuration.
Megatrend: ease of operation
All the engineering aspects of CoDeSys are contained in the modules: program code, I/O assignment, parameterisation and visualisation. Users structure the machine or system on the basis of these modules. They can generate the applications with visualisation and load them onto the mechatronic mini controller CECC from Festo at the press of a button.
"Ease of operation and reduced complexity, particularly during programming and commissioning, are megatrends in automation technology. We at Festo and 3S are taking this into account with this project", explains Achim Kottmann, Product Management for Netware Interface Control at Festo. www.festo.com
